TFA Mod:
Featured in this video is a cost-free and reversible "quick fix" for just ONE of the things that people take issue with on Tamiya's Battle System. This modification HELPS to do away with the non-historical fan shots that are caused by the 45 degree defensive position of the Tamiya apple. It moves the defense zone to the FRONT, so we don't have to swing the tank to fire at the enemy.
Of course, our tank is still open to incoming fire from the 45 degree angles, so we are NOT invulnerable. And of course, our tank is now defensive to the SIDES and the REAR of the cannon, which is a compromise we will have to get used to in battle. The main purpose of this fix is to get the gun and the armor BOTH pointed at the bad guy, so spinning in place won't be as necessary with the Tamiya Battle System.
Bonus Outcomes:
1) This mod will force your opponent to communicate with his wingman so they can hit you at a 45 degree angle to your gun. One opponent will have to "swing wide" to the left or right to attempt to hit your vulnerable spots. This communication improves teamwork, which is GOOD FOR THE HOBBY, and is historical too.
2) Over time, you will learn defensive counter-measures. You will learn to keep a building, tree or hill between you and the enemy wingman. This should put more of the game-play on TACTICS, rather than quirks of the toy.
3) People who drive self-propelled guns, such as the Stug and Jagd, will find this mod especially helpful because they won't have to drive defensively in an erratic zig-zag fashion. This improvement is illustrated at the end of the video.
Note:
This mod is ONLY for people using the stock Tamiya Battle System. If you have an after-market system from El-mod, SBU, SLU, Heng Long, etc..., then this mod may be irrelevant to you.
Disclaimer:
Tamiya does not give us instructions for opening the TBU apple, so do so at your own risk. Be sure keep the silver pyramid reflector clean.

-P.S. to Mr. Tamiya:
If your staff shows you this video, please take no offense. We enjoy Tamiya products and we enjoy RC combat. But I feel that the scope and scale of what we now do with your System has progressed beyond what your technicians may have originally designed. Your American customers would truly benefit from an updated Tamiya Battle System. Please consider producing a "TBS 2.0" with advanced features for RC combat. We will happily submit ideas for new functions. My friends and I will eagerly purchase an upgraded Tamiya System if it makes our hobby more realistic and fun.
Thank you, Mr. Lowell
